The offspring of ex- South African Leader Jacob Zuma has denied all charges to terrorism-related accusations at the commencement of her court case in the port city of Durban city.

Zuma-Sambudla, 43, is being charged over statements she published on digital networks in the past during fatal demonstrations in South Africa that came after the arrest of her parent.

A seven-day period of chaos in multiple regions of the country in the summer of 2021, including theft and intentional burning, caused at least three hundred deceased and led to damage worth an estimated 2.8 billion dollars (2.2 billion pounds).

The defendant has been accused of fuelling this turmoil and confronts charges of incitement to commit terrorism and public disorder.

Context of the Case

The unrest were concentrated in the areas of the Gauteng province and KwaZulu-Natal and followed the ex-leader's apprehension for defying a legal directive to appear as a witness at an inquiry into claims of impropriety while he was holding office.

Ms Zuma-Sambudla has always rejected the charges against her, with her attorney previously calling the state's case as unsubstantiated.

She has also frequently claimed the charges against her were an bid to resolve political grievances with her father after he started his own political organization and ran against the ruling party.

Endorsement and Court Representation

This was supported by the foundation, which said the legal matter was an "misuse of authority" and a "coordinated attempt" of "political and kinship persecution" against the ex-leader and his kin.

A handful of followers from her political organization, uMkhonto weSizwe, appeared outside the judicial building, while her father and other party leaders were present at the hearings inside.

Her legal team has stated that the proof presented by prosecutors is inadequate and does not have concrete proof for a guilty verdict.
