Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
