Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while presenting gripping, politically driven tales. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing belief and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of society through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, daring style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
