Netflix Casts Spot-On Performer for Bentham in One Piece Third Season

The Secret Organization is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a adored, popular member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. The role can use their power to transform into an perfect replica of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a rendition of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the initial comic and anime.

This performer will work alongside a number of fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, featuring head the main antagonist, brought to life by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Although the role is a key figure of the group, the persona will be introduced in One Piece season 3. With the next season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this signals a significant shift in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the role. Along with their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
