Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
