Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the popular TV show The Middle.

American actor Finn, who appeared in popular television series including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones stated in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted on social media.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
