A funding package that would terminate the record-setting government shutdown in the nation's history is advancing toward the House of Representatives for a crucial vote on Wednesday.

On day 43 of the legislative standoff, congressional members are coming back to Washington to vote on whether to pass a Senate package that would fund government departments for two months.

Majority party officials stated assurance the spending plan would clear the House of Representatives, despite their slim advantage. But leading opposition members promised to vote against it.

"We're opening up our United States," he stated on yesterday at a patriotic gathering in the Virginia suburb. "Never should have been closed."
