Vinted Members Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
